CCSU Certificate Program for the Educational Technology Department
Two strands that need to be addressed:
Strand 1: Non Educational technology majors (public school teachers)
Strand 2: Training and Development of non educators
Objective for students to learn how to design, produce and evaluate instruction for a specific audience.
BIG IDEAS:
Keynote: Have a presentation/model that has gone through this process and explain importance and relevancy of using this
Design
- Needs Analysis for school or company (goal or purpose of instruction)
- Learner background knowledge
- Instructional Strategies
- Educational Theories on curriculum and instruction
End cohort project (Paper) what makes good instructional design- what is involved. (Include project management, time management,
Produce (2 sections)
Section 1
- Delivery: Students need to gain an understanding on effective delivery (What skill set are we including here)
- Create instructional delivery materials (which concepts?)
- cloud computing & Web 2.0
- Lesson plan/outline: does not have to be for a classroom. Could be a white paper on delivery methods and integration of tools
Section 2
- Out of class teaching practice. Have a mentor/document teaching with proper model and tools
Evaluate - Essential Questions - Are the learners needs met? - What are the educational gains? - How can I improve the comprehension and retention of the audience for next time?
Specialties/Resources
- This area will continuously change with the various tools - different focus each week.
- Presentation of projects (Poster Session)
Grant writing?
Portfolio based program
What does this piece of paper do for the individual who takes the program?
Bridging the cohort group with other students - creating a network of learners within the cert. program.
Cert. Attendees will be given a laptop or iPad.
Setup a PLN (personal learning network):
Collaborative social network that will be available and used for the students through the whole program.
